I thought I would take a look back at the first photoshoot Matt and I did as part of my first blog write-up. Matt is one of my oldest and best friends with an interest in film-photography. We thought it would be fun to do a collaboration of work photographing my prints in their locations. As you may know, I take a lot of inspiration from the world around me...especially of the South West. So on one sunny spring day, we decided to take a tour of my first collection of prints from Bath to Bristol.
We started our tour photographing the 'Bath Telephone Box' print in Bath city centre. If you haven't had the chance to visit - Please do! It is such a pretty place - So many beautiful historic buildings and places to explore. We spent our morning having a wonder around the cobbled streets with a stop off at 'Kekolo Coffee' - A little gem we found on New Bond Street. The Coffee shop sits in a central location opposite the well known busking spot which made a warm and inviting atmosphere.
We strolled up towards my second sketch on Milsom street (opposite Jolly's - if you know the area well) A fabulous florists called Anemone. I decided to draw this after a previous visit to Bath. The store has the best display of so many pretty plants and the most beautiful flower bouquets. It stood out so well in the sunshine.
It was back on route to Bristol for our next stop. We arrived at Bristol Harbour to capture my first ever print titled 'Bristol Harbour Boats'. This was my photo of the day. The colourful iconic Bristol houses in the background glistened in the sunshine - It could not have been more perfect!
We travelled towards the other end of the Harbourside for my next print, Bristol Harbour Cranes. Situated in the very busy, vibrant Wapping Wharf area, it was slightly more difficult to get a clear view of the backdrop but I was very pleased with our outcome. Can you spot Bristol's M Shed museum in the background? (another iconic Landmark!)
Our final stop is a personal favourite of mine - 'The Old Duke'. A traditional, small jazz pub placed on the cobbled King Street in central Bristol. This pub is filled with live music, beer and plenty of happy memories. My friends and I stumbled across this pub while at Uni and whenever we meet up we are always keen for another visit. They hold live music every day of the week so if you are a music lover this is a place for you to try!
Two fab cities in one day = A Sunday well spent! Stay tuned for the next photoshoot where I will be following the route of my second collection of local prints.
Series 2 coming soon!
P.S. A special mention and thank you to Matt for this wonderful collection of photos. If you would like to take a look at more of his film photography work please feel free to check out his instagram page @mattmatt163
